Student Wellbeing
Wellbeing ties in with the ethos of Laurel Hill Secondary School FCJ and is a priority for our school. It is essential all students feel a sense of companionship and hope as they progress through their educational journey.

Student Participation
Wellbeing is explored and prioritised both in a curricular setting and through the array of extra-curricular opportunities available in the school.
All Junior students participate in PE, SPHE including RSE, and CSPE. Four hundred hours of wellbeing are timetabled for Junior Cycle students between 1st Year and 3rd Year. All Senior students engage in PE, Guidance and RSE. In addition to this curricular focus on wellbeing, numerous guest speakers and workshops are arranged annually for students to avail of at both Junior and Senior Cycle.
Promoting Wellbeing
To promote wellbeing in Laurel Hill Secondary School FCJ, the following days and weeks are organised annually to educate students and promote positive mental and physical health:
- Active Schools Week
- Anti-Bullying Week
- Stand Up Awareness Week
- World Mental Day
- Internet Safety Week
- Grandparents’ Day
Each of the above, combined with the curricular focus on wellbeing, are essential in helping each pupil engage with the indicators of wellbeing which include being active, responsible, connected, resilient, respected and aware.
