Junior Cycle
At Laurel Hill Secondary School FCJ, Junior Cycle core subjects include English, Irish, Maths, French, History, Geography, Science, CSPE, SPHE, RE, PE and Wellbeing. In addition to these core subject areas, students choose from the following option subjects: Art, Spanish, Home Economics, Music, Business Studies and Graphics.
All of these subjects are within the new Junior Cycle Framework. All classes are forty minutes long with some double classes in practical subject areas. Through these subject areas, focus is placed on developing the key skills of Junior Cycle which include:
- Being Literate
- Managing Myself
- Staying Well
- Managing Information & Thinking
- Being Numerate
- Being Creative
- Working With Others
- Communicating
